Goings On

It has been so warm the last few weeks it's been hard not putting everything in the ground!  All the trees are budding out, half the perennials are coming up, it's been almost 80 every day for about a week now.  Back to reality next week with 30s overnight, instead of the balmy 60 we have been enjoying.  Poor plants.

We got the garden mats this year to help control weeds.  The 1,178 holes seem like a crazy amount of plants!  I don't know if I can handle organization like this the entire season.

Last week I planted green onions and the perpetual spinach outside.  Indoors I started aster, broccoli (De Cicco and Waltham 29), cilantro, cornflower, eggplant Black Beauty, eggplant Long purple, lettuce Winter Density, nicotiana, parsley, chives, peppers (Anaheim, CA Wonder, Jalapeno, Orange Bell, Poblano, and Baby Belle), tomato Cherokee Purple, and zinnias.

March 1st I will start a few more inside: cucumber (Poinsett 76 and Suyo Long), okra, oregano, peas Sugar Ann, sunflower (Short Stuff and Snack Seed), swiss chard, tomatillo, and Neepa's eggplant. Sugar Snap and Mammoth peas will go in the ground outside that weekend as well.

We got two more grow lights which is making life quite a bit easier this year, although with the second group of seeds going in I will have to rotate trays again, maybe  I am planting too much:)

Something killed one of the figs, Brown Turkey I think, looks like it chewed the base right off the roots.  Really stinks because that was the only one producing last year.  See how the other two do then maybe replant.
