Trellises, Weather, Plantings and Way too Many Peppers
We have been busy in the garden the last few weeks. Rick made trellises for the peas and cucumbers. He ran out of 2 x 4s and I won't let him go to Home Depot for more with Covid19 so we will have to make do with 5 until I change my mind. It's driving him nuts not being able to finish a project.
Did a lot of planting the last 2 weeks but still have a bunch of seeds to get in the ground. It is amazing how much faster things go with two boys helping. They have done a ton this year. Yesterday I decided to try tomatoes in pots on the deck, not sure they will work but we will see. Things have really started to grow already. The blueberries are covered in flowers, raspberries are covered in little berries, blackberries are blooming, hummingbirds are here. One crazy pepper has been flowering for weeks.
I love seeing the baptisia when it first pops up it is a deep purple when it first comes out of the ground.
Seeds plated 2 weeks ago:
Mustard, radish, lettuce, beets, onions, turnips, peas, carrots, beet chard, dill, cilantro, tromboncino, and kale.
Planted today:
Pepper plants, beans, cucumber, tomato, artichoke plants, carrot, and cilantro fill in.
Need to plant:
Lettuces, radish, all flowers, onions, tomatillos, basil and lemon balm.
Tonight will be our second meal of asparagus. I was worried that digging everything up for the garage would kill have the bed, but they are still growing well.
Map of pepper plants so I can tell what I am picking. I would love to do tags or markers of some kind on the actual plant, but Murphy steals those. Jerk dog. I am going to need to make a ton of hot sauce.
